Where is the glitter?
Glitter may be printed or bonded to the surface, sealed inside a clear shell, or mixed into a filling. Surface glitter can shed over time. Sealed glitter stays put unless the toy tears. The product description or photos usually show which kind it is. If not, that is a good question to ask the seller.
Seams and filling
Dumpling shapes often have a pleated or pinched top. On filled dumplings, this is where seams sit, and seams take the most stress when you squeeze. If the toy contains gel, beads or liquid, look for any warnings about punctures and what to do if it leaks.
Mystery and limited editions
Some glitter dumplings are sold as “mystery” items, where the color, character or surprise inside is not shown in advance. That can be part of the fun. For a gift, though, check whether the recipient minds not knowing which one they will get, and read exactly what the mystery covers.
Size and display
Dumplings range from tiny charms to large display pieces around 5 inches or more. Larger ones are easier to squeeze and photograph. Smaller ones are easier to collect, but less suitable around younger children.
