Keeping them clean
Many foam squishies can be gently wiped with a slightly damp cloth and left to air-dry. Soaking can damage foam and paint. Some people dust lint off butter or velvet textures with a soft brush or a light dusting of cornstarch. Test any method on a small spot first.
Avoid heat and sunlight
Direct sunlight can fade colors, and heat can make some foams sticky or misshapen. Store squishies in a cool, shaded place, away from heaters and hot cars.
Give them space
Squishies that are squashed together for long periods can stay dented, and painted surfaces can stick to each other. A shelf, an open bin, or small individual bags help them keep their shape.
Squeeze gently
Very hard squeezing or pulling can tear foam, especially at thin points like ears, tails or dumpling pleats. For filled toys, avoid sharp objects and pets’ claws or teeth.
When to retire a toy
If a squishy is torn, leaking, crumbling or has loose parts, it’s time to throw it away, especially if children use it.
